Jodie Foster has finally come out as a lesbian to pay tribute to her girlfriend of 14 years.
The fiercely-private actress has always resolutely refused to discuss her sexuality.
But after winning an award at a Women in Entertainment breakfast, she broke her taboo to thank "my beautiful Cydney".

Couple: Jodie's lesbian romance with Cydney is already an open secret in Hollywood
Her emotional speech brought tears to the eyes of some of her audience at the Beverly Hills Hotel, revealing a vulnerable side to a star who has long resisted calls from gay rights activists to clarify her personal life.
Miss Foster, 44, a double Oscar winner, praised her film producer partner Cydney Bernard "who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss".
The couple met on the set of the film Sommersby in 1993 and are raising two sons, Charles, nine, and Kit, six, at their Malibu home.
Although she gave birth to both boys, Miss Foster has never revealed the identity of the father or the circumstances of their conception.
Jodie Foster has been in Tokyo to promote her new film The Brave One, where she plays a woman out to avenge the death of her fiancée.
However, she told a news conference that when it comes to losing her cool, she gets angry at electronic gadgets rather than people. Foster plays a woman out to avenge the death of her fiancée
"I have a problem with electronics. I can't ever make them work. It drives me crazy," she said.
She also admitted that the idea of women taking control of a situation instead of hurting themselves is what attracted her most about the Neil Jordan-directed film.
"I think that it was astonishing when I felt it, astonishing to play and I think it also captivates women who see it," she said.
"They know there is a part of themselves deep down (that is) putting a foot down and saying 'I am not going to destroy myself but I am going to hurt someone else'."

From being the muse of a ‘Taxi Driver’ to having control her own ‘Flightplan,’ here’s a look at Jodie Foster, the complete reason for going to a movie
It doesn't matter whether she's a teenage hooker, a rape victim or a mother with a daughter in peril. When Jodie Foster looks at you from the screen, she commands your undivided interest. She commands a well-earned respect for a strong woman who's in control of her choices, a woman who always takes responsibility whatever her actions are.
Never a victim, Jodie Foster's carefully-selected female characters created (and continue to create) a screen persona who never says yes' for over three decades to the system where men rule.
Jodie Foster speaks about her experience working in 'The Brave One,' apart from her future projects and her journey so far in the world of cinema.
How do you feel after a movie like this? It was such a satisfying opportunity. I love Neil Jordan. He is so talented and I learned so much from him. It was a great experience, but it was also terribly lonely.
Sometimes with dramas that’s the way it is. And part of what I am attracted to in dramas is that you have this big thing that happens to you and it’s very hard to explain to anybody.
And you don’t even want to explain it to anyone. And then you get to this part when the movie is done and then you have to explain it. I like talking about it, but it is strangely emotional.
Neil Jordan is undoubtedly one of Ireland's most successful movie directors. His directorial credits to date include 'Breakfast on Pluto', 'Michael Collins', 'The Butcher Boy', 'The End of the Affair' and 'The Crying Game' to name just a few.
And while these movies are all powerful, critically acclaimed movies most of them are not what you would class as Hollywood mainstream productions.
Possibly Jordan's biggest Hollywood production to date might be 'Interview with a Vampire' (1994) which starred top box office names such as Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst. But this type of movie is the exception rather than the norm.
It would appear that Jordan very carefully selects the movies he directs and then, very often, gets involved in producing and writing of these movies as well.
Neil Jordan's latest movie is one of those rare Jordan pictures - a mainstream Hollywood release entitled 'The Brave One', although he has no input to the screenplay here.
